SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS:
YouthBuild provides job training and educational opportunities for at-risk youth while assisting in the construction or rehabilitation of affordable housing for low-income or homeless families in their own communities.
The mission of Youthbuild of the Pineywoods is to engage low-income at-risk young people ages 18-24 with barriers to employment from small cities in the rural Angelina and Nacogdoches counties in transforming their lives through increased education, training, and developing relationships with construction-industry employers who will serve as their mentors. In this 24-month program, Youthbuild of the Pineywoods integrates the following six program components to ensure that participants meet both the national and Youthbuild of the Pineywoods program performance measures:
Integrity is defined as demonstrating the quality of being complete, sound, and undivided especially with regard to moral values, and demonstrating incorruptibility and a firm adherence to such values. At YouthBuild of the Pineywoods, we expect all staff and participants to commit to exercising integrity throughout the program, increasingly paying attention to how integrity can positively affect humanity.
A respectful person is someone who demonstrates high regard for others opinions and innate worth, including participants, co-workers, subordinates, and supervisors. At YouthBuild of the Pineywoods, this value includes respect for one's self and regard for one's character. Everyone — participants and staff — are expected to regard each individual as worthy of esteem and to conduct themselves in a manner that increasingly earns more respect.
Excellence is defined as the state of possessing good qualities to the highest degree; of doing work that deserves great merit; and of demonstrating superiority in virtue. At YouthBuild of the Pineywoods we expect staff and participants to strive to give their best at all times.
